Getting to Hamilton

Hamilton is serviced for road travel by the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) and Highway 403. Air travel is accomodated through Toronto's Pearson International Airport, as well as Hamilton International Airport.

Directions from the Toronto airport to the Ramada/McMaster
Note - for taxi service between Pearson and Hamilton, participants are encouraged to book passage with Airways Transit, mentioning that they are Origins Institute conference attendees.
-Head south on Hwy 427
-Take the QEW westbound (Hamilton)
-At the Burlington junction, keep right onto Hwy 403 (Brantford)
-For the Ramada, take the Main St. E exit and follow into downtown Hamilton. Turn left onto Walnut St. and left on to King St. E. The Ramada is 150 King St. E. (on left)
-For McMaster, take the Main St. W exit, and turn left on to Main St. W. McMaster is located at 1280 Main St. W.

Directions from the Hamilton airport to the Ramada/McMaster
-Head east to Hwy 6 (Upper James St.), turn left
-Follow Hwy 6 for approx. 30 minutes, taking the Claremont Access down the escarpment
-Now on Victoria Ave S, take a left on King St. E.
-The Ramada is located on the left at 150 King St. E.
-King St. ends at McMaster, approximately 12 minutes west

Hamilton is easily accessed from the Niagara Falls/Buffalo area via the QEW Niagara.

Local transit information

Hamilton has an extensive city transit system (HSR) with excellent service between McMaster and downtown.
There are several buses that go from downtown to the McMaster campus. The 1A King (but not 1 King, which ceases downtown) route is shown to the left. The 5C Delaware also follows this route to McMaster, as does the 10 Beeline Express. Note that the 1A and 10 run only on weekdays, and that the express buses run only during rush hours.

The Centre for Learning & Discovery is easily accessible from the bus stop at the end of Sterling Street. A map is shown below.

Note that due to the construction of the new main campus entrance, routes through McMaster have been re-routed, however the stop closest to the Centre for Learning & Discovery remains unchanged.

Parking / Rental Car Information
Parking on the McMaster campus is available for visitors with a daily fee of $15. Tickets are purchased from the parking kiosks located at the main campus entrances.
Rental cars are available throughout the Hamilton/Toronto area from several providers.
